SUBJECT
IHKA Temperature Setting not Adjustable
SITUATION
The customer states that during heating operation, cold air comes out of the vents in all temperature settings, except maximum heat (temperature knob turned to the red scale).
CAUSE
- IHKA (Automatic Heating and Air Conditioning) coding.
- IHKA control module faulty.
PROCEDURE
- Verify the customer complaint by first running the vehicle to full operating temperature.
- Set the temperature control knob to the white scale (64 to 80).
- Does the temperature regulation work correctly?
- If no, turn the temperature control knob clockwise to the red scale (full heat, no mixing flap).
- If full heat is now coming from the vents, continue with the next step. If not, then the procedure outlined in this Service Information will not repair the problem. Continue troubleshooting the system.
- Recode the IHKA control module per SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization, Programming) Procedure E, using CIP 18.01 or higher.
- Recheck the system as in steps 1 - 4 above. If the heating still does not work properly, replace the IHKA control panel.
