Throttle Position Sensor: Description and Operation

The TPS is mounted in the carburetor body and is moved by the accelerator pump linkage. When the throttle blades are closed, the TPS provides a low voltage (under 1 volt). This voltage signal will increase to up to 5 volts as the throttle blades are opened to wide open throttle. These voltage signals provide an indication of throttle position to the ECM.
