Wheel Alignment Trouble Shooting

NOTE: This is a general trouble shooting guide. When using this guide, locate the condition in column one that corresponds to your problem and determine the possible causes in column two. Match the number of the possible cause with the same number in column three, and you will have the suggested correction.

CONDITION	POSSIBLE CAUSE	CORRECTION
Tire wear	Tire pressure too low Wheel alignment out of Excessively worn wheel bearings Improper or no tire rotation	Check manufacturers recommended pressure and set to specifications Check alignment and set to specs or replace components Check, adjust or replace bearings Follow manufacturers recommended procedures. Do either 4 or 5 wheel rotation
Grating tire noise	Improper tire pressure Wheel alignment out of tolerance Damaged or defective spindle or suspension components	Check manufacturers recommended pressure and set to specifications Reset alignment or replace necessary suspension components Inspect and replace components
Uneven tire wear	Uneven tire pressure Tire pressure too low (shoulders on tire worn) Tire pressure too high (center of tred worn) Bent rotor or wheel One side of front tred worn Inside of tred worn Outside of tred worn Excessive wheel bearing play Brake operation on only one side	Check manufacturers recommended pressure and inflate to specifications See correction 1 See correction 1 Check and replace part Inadequate camber Inadequate toe-in Excessive toe-in Inspect and adjust bearings Check and adjust brakes
