Sensor Assembly
All Ford models use a mechanical sensor device. The sensor assembly, located behind the right side of the instrument panel, samples interior air. The assembly contains a bimetallic disc which reacts to the air temperature sensed, causing a vacuum signal reaction. The temperature control lever is attached by a cable to an arm in the sensor. By adjusting the lever, the vacuum bias is created. Thus, modulated vacuum output is a result of the temperature lever bias and the air temperature sensed at the bimetal disc.
