Exhaust Gas RECIRCULATION System: Description
The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) System used on all Courier models is designed to reintroduce a small amount of exhaust gas into the combustion cycle, thereby reducing combustion temperatures and reducing the generation of oxides of nitrogen (NOx).
The amount of exhaust gases reintroduced and the timing of the combustion cycle are controlled by various factors such as engine speed, vacuum and temperature. The main components of the EGR system are the EGR valve, thermo valve and vacuum amplifier.
