Insufficient TP Sensor Dynamic Response (Code 73)

  1. Disconnect TP sensor. Connect ohmmeter across outside terminals of TP sensor. Observe resistance while moving throttle to WOT. If resistance increases by 1,000 ohms or less, replace TP sensor and repeat Quick Test. If resistance increases by more than 1,000 ohms, proceed with test.
  2. Reconnect TP sensor. Perform Engine Running Test. Open the throttle to the WOT position when the Dynamic Response Signal is given. Check for codes 23 or 73. If code 23 is present, perform TP Sensor Test. If code 73 is present, replace TP sensor and repeat Quick Test. If neither code 23 nor 73 is present, service other codes as necessary.
