ECT Input High (Code 51): Notes

  1. Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Disconnect ECT connector. Connect a jumper wire between harness circuits 354 and 359 at ACT connector. Perform Key On - Engine Off Test. Check for code 61. If code 61 is present, replace ECT sensor and repeat Quick Test. If code 61 is not present, proceed with test.
    NOTE: Any time shorts or opens are present during testing, the same code will be generated in Continuous Test.
  2. Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Remove jumper wire. Disconnect processor and inspect both 60 pin connectors. Connect breakout box to harness and leave processor disconnected. Measure continuity from circuit 354 to breakout box pin 7 and circuit 359 to breakout box pin 46. If either resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair wiring harness and repeat Quick Test. If both resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace processor and repeat Quick Test.
