Air Vane Meter Assembly
The vane air meter contains 2 sensors which furnish input to the ECA, an airflow sensor and a vane air temperature sensor. The air vane meter measures the volume of air flow to the engine. Air flow through the body moves a vane mounted on a pivot pin. The vane is connected to a variable resistor (potentiometer) which in turn is connected to a 5-volt reference voltage.
The output of this potentiometer varies depending on the volume of air flowing through the sensor. The temperature sensor in the air vane meter measures the incoming air temperature. The air volume and temperature inputs are used by the ECA to compute the fuel flow (injector pulse duration) necessary for the optimum air/fuel ratio.
