Computed Ignition Timing Check

  1. Make sure that in-line base timing connector is reconnected if base timing has been checked. Make sure that Self-TEST is activated and start engine. Timing is locked for full Self-TEST sequence and for 2 minutes after display of last service code.
  2. On LTD and Marquis models, timing range should be 25-31° BTDC. On California models of Mustang and Capri, timing range should be 23-29° BTDC. On all other models, timing range should be 27-33° BTDC. If timing is correct, go to Engine Running Self-Test. If timing is not correct, go to TEST MM  .
NOTE: If engine will not start, go to TEST A  . If engine stalls while testing, go to Diagnosis By Symptom Test.
