4WD Models

  1. Raise vehicle on hoist and remove wheel assemblies. Remove upper ball joint cotter pin and nut. Loosen lower ball joint nut and back off nut to end of stud.
  2. Strike inside of spindle near upper and lower ball joints to break loose from ball joint studs. Remove camber adjustment sleeve. If required, use Pitman Arm Puller (T64P-3590-F) to remove sleeve from spindle.
  3. Install camber adjustment sleeve on top ball joint stud with arrow pointing outboard for positive camber and the arrow pointing inboard for negative camber. See Fig 1 .
    NOTE: Zero camber sleeves will not have an arrow and may be rotated in either direction as long as lugs on yoke engage slots in bushing.
  4. Remove lower ball joint stud nut and discard. Install a new nut on lower ball joint stud nut and tighten to 40 ft. lbs. (54 N.m). Install new nut on top ball joint stud and tighten to 85-100 ft. lbs. (115-136 N.m).
  5. Advance nut until castellation aligns with cotter pin hole and install cotter pin. Finish tightening lower nut to 95-110 ft. lbs. (129-149 N.m). Reinstall wheel assemblies and lower vehicle. Check camber and adjust toe.
