Fuel Injection Pump

A vane-type pump is utilized in this system. Fuel supplied to the pump is pressurized and fed into the pump body, where it is held in a high pressure chamber at the upper part of the pump plunger. Fuel injection is controlled by a sliding sleeve, operated by the throttle linkage, which governs the amount of fuel supplied to the injectors. Injection pressure varies with engine speed.

Surplus fuel in the injection pump is returned to the fuel tank through the overflow line after circulating through the pump to provide cooling and lubrication.
