Speedometer Calibration Check

  1. Drive vehicle on road with measured mile markers at 30 MPH and 60 MPH. Time intervals between markers. Divide number of minutes between mile markers by 60. This number is the actual vehicle speed.
  2. Does vehicle fall within allowable range? Refer to the SPEEDOMETER SPECIFICATION  table.
    NOTE: Improper tire size will cause error in readings.
    SPEEDOMETER SPECIFICATIONS

    Standard Indication (MPH) Allowable Range (MPH)
    30 27.0-34.5
    60 54-69
  3. If reading is not within allowable range, or if reading fluctuates or there is no reading, remove speedometer cable. If cable is okay, replace speedometer.
