Vane Airflow Meter (VAF)

The VAF is mounted in the air inlet between the air cleaner and the throttle body. It measures the volume of air flowing into the engine. A movable door, attached to a potentiometer, signals the ECA as to door position. The ECA translates this to air volume. The Vane Air Temperature (VAT) sensor is mounted in the VAF. The VAF potentiometer also contains a fuel pump switching circuit which supplies a signal to cut fuel pump operation when the engine is off.
