Check Engine Warning Light

The CHECK ENGINE warning light indicates malfunctions in the electronic engine control system. When functioning correctly, the light comes on when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position and goes out after the engine starts. If the lamp fails to glow with ignition switch on or illuminates when the engine is running, a service need is indicated.
