THERMACTOR Idle Vacuum (TIV) Valve

  1. Disconnect vacuum hoses from valve. Connect a manifold vacuum source to small nipple of the TIV valve. With engine at idle and in Neutral, test for vacuum at vent holes in valve housing. If vacuum is not present, valve must be replaced.
  2. With engine running and connected as in step 1), use a test source to apply vacuum within specified range to large nipple. See TIV VALVE VACUUM SPECIFICATIONS. If vacuum is present at vent holes, valve must be replaced. Disconnect test hoses and reconnect original hoses.
