Ignition Timing: Adjustments

INITIAL TIMING

1. With vehicle at operating temperature, place transmission in Park or Neutral and set parking brake. If equipped, disconnect automatic parking brake release. Front wheels must be in straight-ahead position and curb idle speed set to specification. Connect suitable timing light.
2. On Non-Turbo Probe, disconnect and plug vacuum hoses at distributor. On Turbo Probe , ground STI test connector. STI test connector is a single Black connector located at left front strut tower.
3. Start engine. With engine at timing RPM, check base timing. Turn engine off. Reconnect vacuum hoses, wires or remove ground wire. Check ignition computed timing.
