Description & Operation

The system components include a driver's seat switch, a keypad, wiring harnesses, and a keyless entry module. On Town Car, module is located behind right side kick panel. On all other models, module is located below rear package shelf in luggage compartment. The system also includes the power door locks and power trunk release.

The keyless entry system enables vehicle to be locked and unlocked without use of a key. The system's operation is controlled by a 5-button keypad on driver's door and keyless entry module.

Pressing correct combination will unlock driver's door and turn on courtesy lights. Pressing additional buttons will open remaining doors, lock all doors or open trunk lid. The system automatically locks all doors when all doors are closed, ignition is on, driver's seat is occupied, and vehicle is placed in gear.

NOTE: Servicing procedures for door lock and trunk release components can be found in appropriate article in this section.
