Synchronizer Assembly: Removal

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove camshaft sensor assembly. See CAMSHAFT SENSOR ASSEMBLY R & I. Remove synchronizer clamp and synchronizer from front engine cover.

NOTE: The immediate oil pump driveshaft should be removed with synchronizer assembly.

CAUTION: If the replacement synchronizer does not contain a plastic locator cover tool, a special service tool such as Synchro Positioner T89P-12200-A or equivalent must be obtained prior to installation of replacement synchronizer. Failure to follow this procedure will result in improper synchronizer alignment. This will result in ignition system and fuel system being out of time with engine, possibly causing damage.
