Starter Relay Testing

  1. If vehicle will not start and battery is fully charged, disconnect terminal "S" (Red/Blue) from starter relay terminal. Connect remote starter between terminal "S" of starter relay and positive battery terminal.
  2. Crank engine with remote starter. If engine cranks, relay is okay. Check ignition, neutral safety or clutch switch operation and wiring circuits. If starter does not operate, replace relay.
  3. If starter spins but does not engage engine, check armature shaft for corrosion. Repair as necessary. If armature shaft is okay, replace starter.
