Injection Pump: Removal
- Disconnect ground cables from both batteries. Remove adapter housing cover plate.
- Remove bolts which retain injection pump to drive gear. Unplug electrical connectors from pump. Remove fast idle solenoid bracket. Disconnect accelerator cable and speed control cable (if equipped) from injection pump. Remove air cleaner. Cover manifold opening.
- Remove accelerator cable bracket with cables attached. Position bracket out of work area. Remove fuel filter and bracket as an assembly.
- On all models, disconnect fuel return hose from 90-degree elbow at governor cover. Remove fuel line between injection pump and fuel filter. Plug openings.NOTE: Unless pump is being replaced or serviced, DO NOT disconnect injection lines from pump when removing pump from engine. If lines are to be removed, loosen them before removing pump.
- Using Injection Pump Mounting Wrench (T86T-9000-C), remove 3 injection pump-to-injection pump drive gear cover nuts. Lift injection pump from engine compartment.
