Test DJ: Step 1

1) Continuous Code 14: Erratic Engine RPM Signal  Code 14 indicates the engine RPM sensor signal was missing pulses during engine operation. Check for loose wires and connections. Check for interference from an on-board transmitter (2-way radio, CB or on-board telephone). If any of these radio wave transmitting devices have been installed, check for proper routing and installation of wires or antenna (verify with manufacturer's installation instructions). Turn ignition off. Wait 10 seconds. Enter KOER/CONTINUOUS monitor mode. While observing the DVOM or STAR LED tester, wiggle RPM sensor connector or lightly tap on RPM sensor.

NOTE: CONTINUOUS monitor mode may exit while a fault is detected. It will be necessary to re-enter KOER/CONTINUOUS monitor mode if this occurs.

If a fault is indicated, service RPM sensor or connections as necessary, clear CONTINUOUS memory and repeat QUICK TEST. If no fault is indicated go to the next step.
