Ignition Coil Resistance Test
- Inspect coil for signs of arcing or leakage. Remove primary and secondary leads from ignition coil. Using ohmmeter, check primary resistance between (positive) and (negative) terminals of coil. See Fig 1 .
- Check secondary resistance between (positive) terminal and coil tower. See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE . If resistance is okay, check insulation by measuring resistance between case and primary positive terminal. Ohmmeter should read infinite. Replace coil if readings are not within specifications.
