Idle Speed & Ignition Timing
- Place transmission in Park or Neutral and turn all accessories off. Using a jumper wire, attach single wire (Black) STI connector to ground. Connect inductive timing light and tachometer.
- Start engine and warm to operating temperature. Check base timing. The White timing mark indicator should be aligned with the White mark on the crankshaft pulley. Loosen distributor mounting bolt and adjust timing if necessary.
- Remove jumper wire attaching STI connector to ground. Raise engine RPM to verify distributor is advancing beyond the initial setting. Remove remaining test equipment.
