Symptom: A/C-Heater Loss of Temperature Control
ISSUE
The loss of temperature control may be caused by the temperature control cable coming off the blend air door pivot shaft.
ACTION
Install a spring washer retainer to secure the temperature control cable to the blend air door pivot shaft. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
- Start the engine and bring it to normal operating temperature.
- Depress the A/C button and put the blower speed on high.
- Set the function control lever to the panel position.
- Move the temperature selector lever to the maximum cool, then to the maximum heat position.
- Check to see if there is a distinct difference in air temperature from cool to hot at the center panel registers.
- If the air temperature does not respond to the temperature lever selection, examine the blend door cable attachment.
- If the temperature control cable is disconnected from the blend door, install a spring washer retainer to secure the cable to the door pivot shaft.
- Confirm the full temperature range as outlined in Steps 3 through 5 above.
