Clearing Codes

To clear codes from the ECA memory, run the KOEO Self-Test, when service codes begin to appear on your test equipment or CHECK ENGINE light, disconnect the jumper wire from the Self-Test Input (STI) connector. If using a STAR series tester, unlatch the center button. This procedure erases Continuous Memory Codes from the ECA memory. If a problem has not been corrected, or the fault is still present, the hard code will be immediately reset into the ECA memory.

CAUTION: DO NOT disconnect the vehicle battery to clear codes. This will erase stored operating information from the Keep Alive Memory (KAM). To clear the KAM, disconnect the negative battery terminal for a minimum of 5 minutes. If the KAM has been cleared, the vehicle must be driven 10 or more miles to allow the ECA to relearn the conditions and driving style under which the vehicle is operated. Driveability may be affected during this relearning cycle.
