Diagnostic Formats

There are 2 diagnostic formats used to test and service the EEC-IV system: QUICK TESTS and CIRCUIT TESTS. QUICK TEST procedures are designed to allow the technician to identify problems, retrieve and record service codes. The CIRCUIT TESTS give procedures for testing circuits and checking sensors and actuators. If a vehicle passes all QUICK TEST procedures, and there are no driveability symptoms or intermittent faults, the EEC-IV system is okay. Problem exists somewhere besides the EEC-IV system.

Always start with the QUICK TEST procedures before attempting any CIRCUIT TESTS. The QUICK TEST procedures allow the technician to retrieve and identify service codes which are used as a reference to find the correct CIRCUIT TEST.
