Rectifier Assembly Test

  1. Remove and disassemble alternator. Set ohmmeter in "x1" range. Connect one ohmmeter probe to positive diode lead and other probe to heat sink at positive side. Reverse ohmmeter probes. There should be about 7 ohms resistance in one direction from diode lead to heat sink and infinite reading with probes reversed. If meter readings are not as specified, replace positive rectifier assembly.
  2. Connect one ohmmeter probe to negative diode lead and other probe to heat sink at negative side. Reverse ohmmeter probes. There should be about 7 ohms resistance in one direction from heat sink to negative diode and infinite reading with probe reversed. If meter readings are not as specified, replace negative rectifier assembly.
