Test M, Code 77 - Dynamic Response Test
NOTE:
You should perform this test only when a Code 77 is received during QUICK TEST.
NOTE:
To prevent replacement of good components, be aware that the following non-EEC related areas may be at fault:
- Technician testing EEC system did not perform brief Wide Open Throttle (WOT) after Dynamic Response code.
- Faulty mechanical engine components
- Engine did not go over 2000 RPM during WOTNOTE: This test is intended to diagnose only the following:
- Throttle movement (Minimum 3/4 throttle).
- Vane Airflow Meter (VAF) open at least 50 percent.
- RPM increase greater than 2000 RPM.
NOTE:
If throttle is snapped open briefly, it may not be sufficient to pass the WOT test. Ensure that the throttle is depressed fully to WOT and that engine exceeds 2000 RPM.
Code 77 Displayed: System Failed to Recognize WOT Test Rerun KOER Self-Test as follows:
- Start engine
- Activate KOER Self-Test
- Observe ID Code "2" (Code "0" with STAR tester)
- Observe Dynamic Response Code "1" (Code "0" with STAR tester)
- Perform brief WOT
- Testing is complete, KOER code output begins
If Code 77 is still displayed, replace ECA and rerun QUICK TEST. If Code 77 is no longer present, vehicle has passed Dynamic Response test, service other codes as necessary.
