Anti-Lock Brake System: Operation
ECM receives an AC signal from each wheel sensor. This information is translated into calculated wheel speed. When ECM determines that wheel lock-up is about to occur, solenoid valves are activated and deactivated to vary hydraulic pressure to each front wheel (separate circuits) and both rear wheels (one circuit) to prevent wheel lock-up.
Electric pump/motor assembly provides constant hydraulic pressure to actuation assembly. ABS does not operate during normal braking conditions. ABS has a self-diagnostic system to obtain trouble codes for testing purposes. See DIAGNOSIS .
