Instrument Panel Tailgate Window Switch(Bronco)

NOTE: The switch should be removed from the vehicle. See TAILGATE WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH (INSTRUMENT PANEL MOUNTED, BRONCO)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  1. Use a self-powered test lamp or an ohmmeter, such as Rotunda Digital Volt-Ohm Meter 007-00001 or equivalent, to test the power tailgate switch.
  2. With the switch in neutral position, there should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and 2 and terminals No. 3 and 4. Terminal No. 5 should be disconnected from all other terminals. See Fig 1.
  3. When the switch rocker knob is pushed up (to close the tailgate window), there should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and 2 and terminals No. 4 and 5. Terminal No. 3 should be disconnected from all other terminals. See Fig 1
  4. When the switch rocker knob is pushed down (to open the tailgate window), there should be continuity between terminals No. 2 and 5 and terminals No. 3 and 4. Terminal No. 1 should be disconnected from all other terminals. See Fig 1
  5. If the switch assembly does not test as stated, replace the switch. See DOOR TRIM PANEL (BRONCO & F-SERIES)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
