Window Switch(Except Explorer 4-Door Master Switch)

  1. Use a self-powered test lamp or Rotunda Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (007-00001) or equivalent, to test the power window switch.
  2. With the switch in the neutral position, there should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and 2 and terminals No. 3 and 4. Terminal No. 5 should be disconnected from all other terminals. See Fig 1 .
  3. When the raised portion of the switch rocker knob is pushed (to raise the window), there should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and 5 and terminals No. 3 and 4. Terminal No. 2 should be disconnected from all other terminals.
  4. When the depressed portion of the switch rocker knob is pushed (to lower the window), there should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and 2 and terminals No. 4 and 5. Terminal No. 3 should be disconnected from all other terminals.
  5. If the switch assembly does not test as stated, replace the switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
