Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV)

  1. Remove PCV valve from valve cover and disconnect it from PCV hose. Shake valve vigorously to ensure plunger is free to move. Replace PCV valve if plunger is not free.
  2. Idle engine until it is warm. Remove fresh air hose at inlet end. Plug nipple immediately to prevent stalling. Verify presence of vacuum at inlet end of hose. If vacuum is not present, replace PCV valve or service hoses or loose oil dipstick.
