Speedometer Calibration Check

  1. Drive vehicle at 30 MPH and 60 MPH on road with measured mile markers. Time intervals between markers. Divide 60 by number of minutes between mile markers to calculate actual vehicle speed.
  2. Compare actual vehicle speeds to specifications. See SPEEDOMETER SPECIFICATIONS table. If actual speeds are within specifications, speedometer is working properly.
NOTE: Improper tire size will cause error in speed indication.
  3. Remove speedometer cable if indicated speeds are not within specification, if speedometer fluctuates or if speedometer does not indicate. If cable is okay, replace speedometer.
