Power Seat System Test

  1. Check all functions of the power seat unit.
    • Forward
    • Backward
    • Front up
    • Front down
    • Rear up
    • Rear down
    If the power seat does not function, go to next step. If some of the seat functions do not work go to step  5 . If all of the power seat functions work then system is functioning properly at this time.
  2. Check the POWER SEAT (30 amp) fuse in the interior fuse panel. Is the fuse okay? If yes, then go to next step. If fuse is not okay, then replace fuse and retest system for normal operation. If the fuse blows again check for shorts to ground in the Blue wire at power seat. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair the Blue wire as needed. The Blue wire changes to White/Red between the power seat switch POWER SEAT fuse in the interior fuse panel at in-line connector.
  3. Check for 12 volts (+/-1 volt) on the Blue wire at the power seat switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . are 12 volts present? If yes, then go to next step. If not then, repair Blue wire between power seat switch and interior fuse panel. The Blue wire changes to White/Red between the power seat switch POWER SEAT fuse in the interior fuse panel at in-line connector.
  4. Check for continuity between ground and the Black wire at the power seat switch. Is there continuity? If yes, then replace power seat switch. If not, then repair Black wire between power seat switch and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Retest system for normal operation.
  5. Test power seat switch. See POWER SEAT SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If the power seat switch is okay, then go to next step. If the power seat switch is not okay, then replace power seat switch, Retest system for normal operation.
  6. Check wiring between power seat switch and motors. Check circuits for open or short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair wiring as necessary, then retest system for normal operation. If wiring is okay, then go to next step.
  7. Test power seat motors. See POWER SEAT MOTORS  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace power seat motor if faulty, then retest system for normal operation. If power seat motor is okay, check seat linkage for binding. Repair as necessary then retest system for normal operation.
