Turbocharger (2.2L): Removal
- Before removing turbocharger, clean area surrounding turbocharger using a non-caustic cleaner. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system.
- Disconnect turbocharger outlet hose. Remove heat shields from exhaust manifold and turbocharger assembly. Disconnect exhaust gas oxygen sensor electrical connector (if necessary).
- Disconnect oil feed and return lines from turbocharger. See Fig 1
. Disconnect coolant inlet and outlet hoses from turbocharger. Remove EGR tube from exhaust manifold.
- Disconnect air tube and electrical connector from boost control solenoid. Remove mounting bolt from turbocharger retaining bracket, located under turbocharger. Discharge A/C system using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Remove refrigerant line from A/C compressor. Remove exhaust gas oxygen sensor.
- Remove converter inlet pipe from turbocharger joint pipe. Remove exhaust manifold and turbocharger as an assembly. Separate exhaust manifold, turbocharger-to-converter inlet pipe, joint pipe and heat shield assembly from turbocharger.
