Door Glass
NOTE:
If after installing a service replacement window regulator, a rattle is heard with the window half way down, refer to the following procedures:
- Confirm the rattle exists by lowering the window about halfway, grasp the top of the glass and move it in and out.
- If a clunking sound is heard, go to next step.
- Remove the door trim panel and water shield. See DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Inspect and tighten all nuts and bolts securing the front and rear glass guides, window regulator, and glass center bracket.
- Repeat step 1 while observing the internal parts for looseness. See step 1 .
- Identify the regulator components. See Figure .
- The slider center bracket and lower guide plate must be wiped clean before installing the foam insulators. See Fig 1 .
- Carefully remove the paper backing from the foam insulator before pressing into place.
- Position the foam insulator between the regulator channel and the center bracket, almost resting on the roller wheel.
- Use a suitable tool to fold the top of the foam insulator down between the glass and the bracket.
- Remove the two bolts holding the lower guide plate. Pull the guide plate down to make installation of the lower foam insulator easier.
- Position the slider bracket and install the lower guide plate bolts, but do not tighten.
- Slide the guide plate forward, toward the front of the door and tighten the two bolts.
- Make sure the rattle has been eliminated, see step 1 .
- Raise and lower the glass several times to be sure the foam insulators do not contact or rub the roller, cable, or channel.
- Raise the glass to the closed position.
- Close the door several times to check for proper positioning of the glass to the weatherstrip and blow out clip.
- Adjust glass as necessary.
- Install the door water shield and door panel. See DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
