NOTE: Enter this test only when Code 25, 26, 28, 29, 34, 41 or 42 is displayed during self-test procedures (KOEO or KOER). This test is intended to diagnose the following solenoids and circuits: Canister Purge (CANP), EGR Control (EGRC), EGR Vent (EGRV), Fuel Pressure Regulator Control (PRC), High Inlet Air Control (HSIA), Idle Speed Control (ISC) and Turbo Boost Solenoid (BOOST).

1) Checking System Integrity  Visually check all wiring, connectors and components for damage, shorting or looseness. If a fault is found, repair as necessary. If no fault is found, go to next step.

2) Solenoid Function  Install breakout box, leaving ECA disconnected. Check function of appropriate solenoid. See SWITCH PERFORMANCE CHECK. If solenoid functions okay, test is complete. If solenoid does not function properly, go to next step.

3)  Remove connector, and turn ignition on. Measure voltage between connector VPWR terminal and ground. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair VPWR circuit. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.

4)  Measure voltage between connector VPWR and SIG terminals. Simulate ECA solenoid activation. See SIMULATED ECA SOLENOID ACTIVATION. If voltage is more than 10 volts only when solenoid is activated, replace solenoid. If voltage is not more than 10 volts when solenoid is activated, go to next step.

5)  Disconnect solenoid connector. Check for continuity between breakout box SIG test pin and solenoid SIG terminal. If continuity does not exist, repair SIG circuit between solenoid and ECA. If continuity exists, go to next step.

6)  Check continuity between breakout box SIG test pin and all other test pins. If resistance between SIG test pin and any other test pin is less than 5 ohms (continuity), repair shorted SIG wire to ECA as necessary. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms (no continuity) in all circuits and no other problem or code is found, replace ECA.
