Solenoid Vacuum Valve Assembly

  1. Valve is used on Tempo 2.3L and Topaz 2.3L California models as part of Pulse Air system and on Taurus 3.0L SHO as Inlet Air Control (IAC) Valve.
  2. Ports should flow air when solenoid is energized. Resistance at solenoid terminals should be 51-108 ohms. If resistance is not within specification, replace solenoid.
  3. Valve is normally closed with outlet port vented to atmosphere and inlet port closed. When energized, outlet port is connected to inlet port and vent is shut off. Solenoid operation may be checked using a 12-volt jumper to battery.
  4. Ensure solenoid is disconnected and one terminal is connected to ground. Apply vacuum to inlet port. A small amount of leakage is normal when solenoid is energized or de-energized.
