Control Unit
The ECA is a computer, which receives data from numerous sensors, switches and relays. The ECA calibrates information received and then generates output signals to control various relays, solenoids and actuators. The ECA has failure detection and self-diagnosis capability.
On 2.2L non-turbo engines with A/T, ECA also controls the 4-speed Electronic Automatic Transaxle (4EAT) microprocessor. On all models, ECA is located on the center console behind the kick panel.
NOTE:
Components are grouped into 2 categories. The first category covers INPUT DEVICES, which control or produce voltage signals monitored by the control unit. The second category covers OUTPUT SIGNALS, which are components controlled by the control unit.
