Pinpoint Test E, Illuminated Entry
This test checks lock cylinder Light Emitting Diode (LED), door handle switches, keyless entry module and related circuits. Perform test ONLY if instructed by QUICK TEST .
- Using ohmmeter, check continuity between pin No. 2 of Brown connector and ground. If continuity exists, go to step 2). If no continuity exists, repair open in circuit No. 57 (Black wire) and repeat QUICK TEST .
- With ignition OFF, press any button on keypad. If both keyholes light, go to step 5). If one or both keyholes do not light, go to step 3).
- Disconnect Gray connector from module. Check for short between pins No. 6 and 12 of Gray module connector. Also check continuity between pin No. 12 and inoperative door lock cylinder connector. If circuits are okay, go to step 4). If not, repair open or short in circuit(s) No. 464 (Black/Pink wire) and repeat QUICK TEST .
- Reconnect Gray module connector. Connect voltmeter between pin No. 12 of Brown module connector and ground. Lift up door handle on front doors (one at a time) and check voltmeter. If readings are 10 volts or more (within 15 seconds), replace inoperative lock cylinder and repeat QUICK TEST . If readings are less than 10 volts, go to step 5).
- Check voltage between pin No. 13 of Brown module connector and ground. If reading is 10 volts or more, go to step 6). If reading is less than 10 volts, check fuse and repair open or short in circuit No. 54. Repeat QUICK TEST .
- Check voltage at pin No. 8 of Brown module connector with ignition switch in RUN and OFF positions. If reading is 10 volts or more in RUN position, go to step 7). If reading is more than zero volts with ignition off or less than 10 volts in RUN position, repair open or short in circuit No. 298 (Pink or Purple/Orange wire) going to ignition switch. Repeat QUICK TEST .
- Check continuity between pin No. 11 of Brown module connector and ground as each door handle is lifted. No continuity should exist when handles are released. If handle switch is okay, go to step 10). If no continuity exists when handles are lifted, go to step 9). If continuity exists when handles are released, go to step 8).
- Disconnect both door handle switch connectors and Brown module connector. Check for short to ground between pin No. 11 of Brown module connector and ground. If no continuity exists, replace handle switch and repeat QUICK TEST . If continuity exists, repair short to ground in circuit No. 465 (White/Light Blue wire) and repeat QUICK TEST. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Check continuity between pin No. 11 of Brown module connector and inoperative door handle switch connector(s) which failed in step 7). If no continuity exists, repair circuit No. 465 and repeat QUICK TEST. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity exists, replace handle switch and repeat QUICK TEST .
- Reconnect both Gray and Brown module connectors. Turn ignition OFF and check voltage between pin No. 12 of Gray module connector and ground as door handle is lifted. If reading is 10 volts or more (within 30 seconds), go to step 11). If reading is less than 10 volts, replace keyless entry module and repeat QUICK TEST .
- Momentarily connect jumper wire across pins No. 2 and 12 of Gray module connector. If interior lights come on, go to step 12). If interior lights do not come on, repair short or open in circuits No. 53 and 54. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repeat QUICK TEST.
- Check Gray and Brown connectors for corroded, loose or broken pins. Repair or replace connectors as required. If connectors are okay, replace keyless entry module. Repeat QUICK TEST .
