Testing Procedure
There are 2 warning lights (ANTI-LOCK and BRAKE) to alert the vehicle operator of problems in the braking system. The Red BRAKE warning light monitors master cylinder fluid level and parking brake lever status. The Amber ANTI-LOCK warning light alerts the vehicle operator to problems in the ABS system.
When trouble shooting the ABS system, use test procedures in the order they are presented. Using other than the recommended procedure could result in wasted time and/or unnecessary replacement of parts.
Testing should be done in the following sequence: PRETEST CHECKS, ON-BOARD SELF-TESTS using the ON-BOARD SELF-TEST TROUBLE CODE INDEX and ON-BOARD SELF-TEST PINPOINT TESTS AA through EE , ABS QUICK CHECK CHART, WARNING LIGHT SYMPTOM SEQUENCE CHART. See Figure and Figure and PINPOINT TESTS A through L .
