Symptom Checks
Perform the following:
- Check if Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is on. Check instrument cluster as required.
- Check if 4x4 LOW or Transmission Control Indicator Light (TCIL) is on. Check instrument cluster as required.
- If engine runs rough, perform Key On Engine Off (KOEO) Self-Test. See step 14) of DIAGNOSTIC SUB-ROUTINES. If continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Code (11/111-10-11/111) was NOT displayed during KOEO Self-Test, perform appropriate CIRCUIT TEST in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- If engine DOES NOT run rough, perform Key On Engine Off (KOEO) Self-Test. See step 14) of DIAGNOSTIC SUB-ROUTINES.
- If MIL is never comes on, go to step 4) of CIRCUIT TEST ML in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- If MIL is on intermittently, go to step 10) of CIRCUIT TEST ML in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- If MIL is flashing (erratic idle), go to step 15) of CIRCUIT TEST ML in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- If 4x4 LOW indicator light is always off, go to step 4) of CIRCUIT TEST TB in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- If TCIL (diesel engine only) is always off, go to step 6) of CIRCUIT TEST TB in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
