Counterbalance Spring: Removal
- Remove the regulator assembly from the door. See FRONT WINDOW REGULATOR . Place the regulator in the full-up position, if possible, to partially relieve the spring load. Clamp the regulator so that no rotational movement is possible.
- Position spring center bar relative to slotted pivot pin for reassembly later. Using locking pliers proceed as follows: Grip counterbalance spring hook at retaining pin. Carefully lift high enough to clear the pin. Allow the spring to unwind to a free position, about 1/3 to 1/2 turn. Remove the motor from the mounting plate. Regulator can now be discarded.
