Computed Timing Check

Connect timing light and check ignition timing. See IGNITION TIMING in ADJUSTMENTS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform the following procedure as applicable:

• If ignition timing is not correct, go to CIRCUIT TEST PA (distributor ignition systems), CIRCUIT TEST PB (2.3L), or CIRCUIT TEST PC (4.0L).
• If engine starts and then stalls, go to CIRCUIT TEST S.
• If engine will not start, go to CIRCUIT TEST AA (distributor ignition systems), CIRCUIT TEST AB (2.3L), or CIRCUIT TEST AC (4.0L).
