Transmission-Induced Symptoms
Perform the following:
- Perform Key On Engine Off (KOEO) Self-Test. See step 14) of DIAGNOSTIC SUB-ROUTINES. If fault is indicated, perform appropriate CIRCUIT TEST in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If no fault is indicated, go to next symptom check.
- Perform Key On Engine Running (KOER) Self-Test. See step 11) of DIAGNOSTIC SUB-ROUTINES. If fault is indicated, perform appropriate CIRCUIT TEST in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If no fault is indicated, check the following symptom checks.
- For poor fuel economy, go to step 1) of CIRCUIT TEST DJ in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- If tachometer is inoperative, go to step 1) of CIRCUIT TEST DJ in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- If engine stalls during transmission engagement or on transmission downshift when braking, go to step 1) of CIRCUIT TEST TC in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- If transmission shifts early in 4x4 HIGH position, go to step 1) of CIRCUIT TEST TB in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- If Transmission Control Indicator Light (TCIL) is always off, go to step 6) of CIRCUIT TEST TB in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- If 4x4 LOW indicator light is always on (late shift) or off (harsh shift), go to step 4) of CIRCUIT TEST TB in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
