No Start/Normal Crank
NOTE:
Extended cranking due to a NO START condition can load the
exhaust system with raw fuel and ruin the catalytic
converter after engine starts. After the NO START condition
has been repaired, disconnect fuel injector connectors and
crank engine until surplus fuel is purged, as evidenced by
absence of fuel odor in exhaust system.
- Perform QUICK TEST. See G - EEC TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
- Check ignition system. See F - EEC BASIC TESTING article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
- Check engine compression. Check engine mechanical condition. Check intake manifold, manifold gasket, camshaft and valves.
- Check air intake system. Also, ensure throttle plate and linkages operate properly.
- Check EGR system. See I - EEC SYS/COMP TESTS and G - EEC TESTS W/CODES articles in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
- Check fuel delivery system. See I - EEC SYS/COMP TESTS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
