Bleeding Brake System
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Mercury Tracer, 1994 Ford Probe, and 1994 Ford Escort. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
ABS system is bled using conventional methods: either manually (with an assistant), or with a pressure brake bleeder. To prevent drawing air into system, bleed brakes into a clean container of brake fluid. Begin bleeding procedure at bleed screw farthest from master cylinder. Bleed system sequentially, bleeding screw closest to master cylinder last. Ensure all air is removed from brake system. Refill hydraulic system after bleeding is complete. Use DOT 3 brake fluid only.
