Motor Relay Operation Check

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Mercury Tracer, 1994 Ford Probe, and 1994 Ford Escort. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control unit. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . Turn ignition on. At ABS control unit, connect Black/Blue wire to ground. Connect Blue wire (Escort and Tracer) or Blue/Orange wire (Probe) to ground for no longer than 2 seconds.
  2. If motor relay clicks and motor operates when Blue wire (Escort and Tracer) or Blue/Orange wire (Probe) is momentarily connected to ground, go to PINPOINT TEST MMR-8  . If motor relay clicks, but motor does not operate, go to PINPOINT TEST MMR-5  . If motor relay does not click and motor does not operate, go to PINPOINT TEST MMR-4  .
