Description & Operation

Most models are equipped with standard non-tilt wheel columns. On other models, tilt-wheel column is also available as an option. Tilt-wheel column is standard equipment on Continental, Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Mark VII, Mark VIII, Sable, Taurus and Town Car.

On models with Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), observe SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . The air bag system is powered directly from the battery, through a fused circuit, and a back-up power supply which is combined with the diagnostic monitor. Air bag system must be disabled before servicing ANY air bag component. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Use caution when working near steering column. Air bag could accidentally deploy at any time.
