Description & Operation

The power window system consists of window switches, wiring and connectors. Power windows are operated by window switches. Reversible type motors are mounted with each individual window regulator. Each window has an individual switch for separate control. A master control switch is located on left front door or center console. All windows may be controlled from this switch.

On Explorer, a One-Touch system is available on the driver's side. Momentarily depressing the driver's side window button in the up or down position allows the window to move upward or downward until the window is fully lowered or raised. If the window switch is held in the down position for more than one half second, the window will stop when the button is released. A relay prevents window operation unless the ignition switch is in RUN or ACC position.
